Fountain City, WI - Tyler Bruening and A.J. Diemel led the field to the green flag of the WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour Stars & Stripes 40 at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. Bruening took the early lead and also set fast time earlier in the night as the Champ Pans Fast Qualifier and re-drew to be the Ken's Sports Inc. Pole Sitter. Mississippi Thunder Speedway was prepared perfectly, with many of the leaders turning faster laps during the race than they did during qualifying.
With a super fast track, Bruening started to approach the end of the field on lap six with Dustin Sorensen and Jake Timm close behind. Sorensen mastered his way through traffic to take the lead of the WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour Stars & Stripes 40 presented by Arcadia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram from Tyler Bruening on lap nine.
Sorensen continued to lead the field until the caution came out for the first time on lap 12, as Brett Swedberg slowed in turn one and two. On the restart, Sorensen maintained the lead, leaving Bruening and Timm to follow. Caution slowed the field two more times, as Sorensen led and Timm worked around Bruening for second. Returning to green for the final time, Sorensen led the field as Timm, Bruening, Nick Anvelink and James Giossi rounded out the top five. Sorensen led the rest of the race, finishing 1.689 seconds ahead of Timm and Bruening.
Sorensen was crowned King in BMRE Electrick Carts for the third time and the second time at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. The WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour Double Header Weekend continues 78 miles south in Decorah, Iowa at Winneshiek Raceway for the $5000-to-win King of the Bullring.
